Hi friends,
In a weekly newsletter meant to focus on ideas and inspiration for deeper connection in daily life, this week feels very heavy.
We’re approaching Father’s Day, a day that often bonds, celebrates, and connects. Meanwhile, families across Los Angeles are being ripped apart.
It’s unjust, cruel, inhumane. Unlawful.
One of the many things I’ve learned during my time living in LA is that this is a resilient city. And, it seems a key fuel for that resilience is community.
We saw it with the fires and we see it with the raids…during crisis, LA’s strength lies in its people power — people organizing resource drives overnight, peacefully showing up at protests, and centering hope through acts of giving, solidarity, dance, music, and culture.
Connection keeps people going. And reminds us what we care about and fight for, and why.
I’ll keep this one short and sweet, but here’s a round-up of media, questions, and ideas — selected for a dose of lightness and levity — for you headed into the weekend.

Things I read this week:
Things I watched this week:
Reminder to find joy in June (TikTok)
This was one of my family’s staples growing up, and I haven’t seen it for years. I love a lighthearted movie about unconventional connections, and it was so entertaining seeing it with my boyfriend who hasn’t seen it before!
⭐ This weekend: try watching one of your classic feel-good movies with someone who hasn’t seen it before!
Questions of the week: Dinner questions to ask others or to journal on
If someone offered you a box with everything you’ve ever lost, what would be the first thing you’d go looking for?
If you could live in three different places, one for a week, one for a month, and one for a year — which would you choose for each?
If you had no fear, restraints, or constraints, what would you actually do with your life and purpose? (and why aren’t you doing it?)
Talking to strangers challenge of the week:
I’m doing one last strangers playlist in LA before leaving for NYC, and I settled on my question: “what is a song that reminds you of one of the best years (or times) of your life?”
I asked my first three people yesterday and had the most amazing interactions (can’t wait to share soon 🤭).
Your challenge: borrow this question or come up with your own, and ask a stranger (think grocery clerk, barista, waiter, etc.) for a song that reminds them of x. See what happens!
Wishing you a joyful weekend, see you next week, loves!
xoxo,
D
